Softwood Sleepers are taken through a preservative process called 'pressure treatment' that enhances the timber's protection. The pressure treatment involves the timber being placed in a vacuum chamber where the air from the cells within the timber are removed. The vacuum then coats the timber with preservatives which the timber will absorb for both external protection from the elements and internal protection from decay and fungus.
The softwood sleepers are a favourite across domestic gardens because of its smooth, natural appearance and its ability to protect against the elements. The matte surface also allows you the choice to paint over the timber once it has weathered so you can match the timber to the colour scheme of your garden.
Softwood sleepers have several applications including raised flower beds, garden edging, sleeper paths and raised decking areas.
